AC Milan’s Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not ready to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Sunday that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not ready for Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. The group is on Tuesday as the 39-year-old forward has yet to fully recover from a hamstring injury.

Ibrahimovic played just 30 minutes against Lazio and scored one goal after recovering from a knee injury. Before the Swedish striker suffered another hamstring injury and is undergoing rehabilitation with solo training sessions to regain his fitness. But he is not yet available for Tuesday’s clash with Atletico and the 39-year-old is expected to return to the field after a break in the international program.

‘This year, I have to listen to my body. Every little signal that comes to me Only doing this can avoid worse consequences. I have to listen to my body every day to play regularly. I have to think slowly each day. And think I’m not Superman,’ Ibrahimovic had previously told the press.

Ibrahimovic is still training apart from the group and he is expected to return after the break.

The Rossoneri face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League tomorrow and visit Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday before the international break.

Ibrahimovic’s €7.5m-a-year contract expires in June. He has scored 26 goals in 38 appearances with the Rossoneri since his return in January 2020.

The Swede has only played 30 minutes against Lazio this season, scoring one goal.

He had returned to action after a knee injury, but he suffered a new physical issue after the game against the Biancocelesti.

The 39-year-old is now recovering from an Achilles tendon injury and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he won’t be available when Milan host Atletico Madrid at San Siro tomorrow.
